THREE LOOKS OVER MAR DEL PLATA - PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEO MAR

The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes will present, starting on January 8, the exhibition "Tres miradas sobre Mar del Plata", made up of a selection of photographs by Annemarie Heinrich, Ataúlfo Pérez Aznar and Alberto Goldenstein that can be seen at the MAR Museum (Museum of Contemporary Art of the Province of Buenos Aires) in Mar del Plata until June.

THREE LOOKS OVER MAR DEL PLATA - PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEO MAR

Curated by the director of the Bellas Artes, Andrés Duprat, this exhibition brings together three singular, lucid and significant views on the city of Mar del Plata at different times in its historical evolution: the 1950s, by Annemarie Heinrich; the decade of the 80’s, by Ataúlfo Pérez Aznar; and 2001, by Alberto Goldenstein.

Each one of the series,” says Duprat, “portrays aspects of daily life in Mar del Plata that, unfailingly but without intending to, have as their background key moments in Argentine history: Social tourism promoted by the first Peronism in the 1940s and 50’s and the visibility of the working class (Heinrich); the passage from dictatorship to democracy in the 1980s (Pérez Aznar), and the political and economic crisis of 2001 (Goldenstein)."

The set of photographs by these three artists reveals the metamorphosis of the city, the transformations of the urban landscape and the changes in social customs. However, it also allows us to verify continuities, the unalterable, that which manages to transcend time such as geographical invariants: the beach and the sea”, adds the curator.

For his part, the National Minister of Culture, Tristán Bauer, reflects: “Those who attend the exhibition will contemplate these works that display the views and sensitivity of the authors, and I am sure that as they leave the museum behind and immerse themselves in the city again, they will rediscover it, see it with new eyes, evoke those pasts and modify their perception of the present thanks to their lived experience”.
