The Swedish company specialized in large and medium format cameras, handed out the Hasselblad Award 2018 yesterday - a prize awarded every year to a photographer or prominent artist. The company announced Colombian artist Oscar Muñoz as 2018 winner.
The Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography consists of an amount of U $ D125,000. In turn, a ceremony was held in the city of Gothenburg, in Sweden.
In addition, the company will lead to a conversation with the Colombian artist during the day before the opening of the exhibition scheduled at the Hasselblad Center and the presentation of the book by Oscar Muñoz published by Verlag de Buchhandlung Walther König.
“Oscar Muñoz’s is one of the most significant contemporary artists in Latin America. His works revolve around time and memory, subjects that are central to photography. He uses ephemeral materials and engages the viewer in installations that explore existential and political questions, often referring to the recent history of Colombia. We are looking forward to a intriguing exhibition to accompany the Hasselblad Award,” note Louise Wolthers and Dragana Vujanović Östlind, curators of the Hasselblad Award exhibition.
