NEW AUCTION ONLINE HILARIO VII

In an atypical summer, the Hilario Artes Letras Oficios auction house holds a special edition through its website and with the closing of bids on Thursday, February 18, from 6.30 p.m. in Argentina, with an interval of 2 minutes between lot and lot.

76 lots from different private collections will be presented on this occasion. Hilario, who with a high level of effectiveness in his electronic sales, exhibits a selective set of collections of art, vintage photography, traditional textiles, old maps, books, manuscripts and silverware. Among these stands out a monumental triptych by Pérez Celis produced during his stay in New York in the eighties whose measurements exceed 5 meters long.

Contrary to the magnanimous dimensions of the previous triptych, the auction house also exhibits a small intimate portrait of a young lady with a hand fan dated around 1838. The delicate execution is linked to the elegance of Rio de la Plata’s lady in those years of political turbulence. Another treasure of the auction is a lithographed parisian portrait of Simón Bolívar dated around 1825. Another very similar example can be seen in the National Historical Museum of Buenos Aires.

Two mates made by Argentine goldsmiths in the first decades of the 20th century stand out. Their designs allude to an artistic practice that at that time sought to move away from the old models.

Among the vintage photographs, the portrait of the popular image maker Hermógenes Cayo (1907 - 1966) obtained by the photographer Sergio Barbieri (1944), at that time assistant director of the filmmaker Jorge Prelorán (1933 - 2009), an outstanding director of Latin American ethnographic cinema and Professor at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). A generously sized gelatin silver print made by its author around 1995.
