ARCOlisboa 2021: NEW DATES, NEW SPACE

By joint decision of the Lisbon City Council, IFEMA and the ARCO Organising Committee, the fifth edition of ARCOlisboa will be postponed until September. With the aim of developing the art fair in a more appropriate scenario conducive to dialogue between galleries and collectors, the fair will take place on the 16, 17, 18 and 19 of September. In addition, the committee announces the fair's new venue: Doca de Pedrouços.

ARCOlisboa 2021, originally scheduled for mid-May, has invited around 70 galleries from all over the world to this new edition. The art fair will feature its usual programme: a General Programme, with the participation of fairs selected by the Organising Committee; the Opening section, curated by João Murão and Luis Silva, which this year will include the participation of more galleries; the Kunsthalle Lissabon, aimed at giving visibility to emerging projects and artists; and the special Africa in Focus section, curated by Paula Nascimento, which aims to bring the artistic production of the African region closer to European collectors.

On the other hand, the fair is moving to a new space located on the banks of the Tagus River. The fair's move to Doca de Pedrouços, the new venue, aims to discover new corners of Lisbon, opening up the city to the international cultural scene, on such a special occasion as the physical reunion with contemporary art in the Portuguese capital.

Conceived, as in every edition, ARCOlisbon 2021 is not only an experience to come into contact with the most important and innovative agents of the international art scene, but also an opportunity to get closer to the architecture and history of one of the most culturally vibrant cities in Europe. From 16 to 19 September, Lisbon will be a must for anyone who wants to discover new artists, new places and new people.
