A PANEL OF ARTISTS AND THE COMMUNITY AT THE JUMEX MUSEUM IN MEXICO CITY
After t Memoria de autopublicación y desidencia (Memory of self-publishing and desidence) workshop held at the Jumex Museum in Mexico City, AAzufre, Fiebre ediciones y Casa del Hijo del Ahuizot -all emerging artist collectives- will dialogue with Helena Producciones, the Colombian collective founded in 1997 and based in Cali, emerged as a response of the generation that suffered the excesses and economic chaos of the 80s. The conversation will take place on Saturday 11th at the Jumex Museum.
The idea of this panel is to generate a debate about the intersections between collaborative, social and community work in regards to contemporary artistic practice.
Based on the experience as artists and workshops, the panel uses as a trigger the experiences lived in Memoria de autopublicación y desidencia. The workshop was held in three different meetings-May 26, June 23 and July 21-in which each of the invited collectives were immersed in various techniques of publication and printing: screen printing, mimeograph and risography, among others. Also, the series of workshops deepened on the notions of archive, circulation and manifestos.
