The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation welcomes Jesús Fuenmayor as CIFO's new Director and Curator. Fuenmayor has been the Director, since 2005, of Periférico Caracas, a contemporary art space in Venezuela, where he organized more than 30 exhibitions.
This year, he has been the advisor for "Ciudad Sensorial", a program of urban interventions by artists which he founded for the Sucre Municipality in Caracas.
Fuenmayor has also been a member of CIFO's Honorary Advisory Committee since 2009. Also he was Advisor to Museo Jacobo Borges, Caracas, 1992-1995; Associate Curator at Espacio 204, Caracas, 1995-1997 and held a post as a Curator for the Museo Alejandro Otero, Caracas, in 2004.
Fuenmayor co-curated two traveling exhibitions: Jump Cuts. Venezuelan Contemporary Art, from the Mercantil Collection, which traveled to the Americas Society, New York (2005) and CIFO Art Space, Miami (2007); and Demonstration Room / Ideal House, which traveled through art institutions in Caracas, New York, Antwerp and Chicago between 2001 and 2002.
